& Castle Early Housing Sites

The
Elephant & Castle regeneration involves the redevelopment of
the 1100 home Heygate Estate. With the Council we identified potential
sites for replacement housing.
Tibbalds tested design capacities and secured the allocation of
15 Early Housing sites in the Southwark Plan.
Quality was considered crucial, so the Council created a panel of
architects, selected for their creative design approach and potential
to collaborate with residents. We advised on a series of mini-competitions
for selecting the
architect for each site and prepared a design brief setting out
the planning and design requirements and aspirations.
Our assessment of competition submissions informed each selection
panel. We also provided training to the volunteer tenant representatives
for selection panels.
Finally, we prepared an overarching Planning
Statement to accompany the planning applications for each
of the sites. |
