The Lyng Masterplan Review

The Lyng is a major residential site close to the centre of West Bromwich and within the ‘Urban Living’ Housing Market Renewal Area. Initial phases of affordable housing had already been built. The project partners, with CABE’s advice, wished to reassess the development concept and masterplan before marketing the site to a private developer.

The Tibbalds’ revised masterplan has now been adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document. It provides development framework principles and design guidance, focusing in particular on creating a variety of street types, each with its own character created by the nature of the relationship between buildings and landscape.

The team advised on the procurement route, prepared marketing material, contributed to the tender documentation and is acting as technical advisor to the project partners during the developer selection process.
