Tibbalds was recently commended for its work on the Nene Waterfront project in Wisbech in the Renewed Neighbourhoods category of the 2007 Royal Town Planning Institute awards.
Tibbalds was responsible for master planning the port of Wisbech, located on the River Nene in one of the most deprived rural market towns in England’s East. For many years the port struggled to survive so Tibbalds was tasked to help the council resolve complex planning and environmental issues in order to kick start regeneration.
The result is a £47 million multi-partner regeneration project set to transform the Nene river frontage into a new mixed-use quarter. 370 new mixed tenure homes will feature alongside a state-of-the art boat club and berth, new business centre and retail facilities. Extensive landscaping and environmental improvements will complete the transformation.
