It has been a year of learning and professional development for Tibbalds.

Firstly, Associate Katja Stille became a ‘Recognised Urban Design Practitioner’, one of the first 20 people in the country to do so. The new scheme set up by the Urban Design Group offers identity and status to professional urban designers, recognising their commitment to the field and also helping to promote Urban Design as a career.

Senior Planner Michael Fox has recently graduated from University of Westminster after completing a Post-graduate Diploma in Urban Design. As a planner at Tibbalds Michael understands the importance of urban design as an integral part of the planning process and wanted to gain a better understanding of urban design practice. He successfully gaining a Merit, undertaking some interesting projects including: Development Framework/Masterplans for Hackney Wick and Camden Town; an Urban Design Strategy for Church Street market in Westminster; and taking part in the university summer school in Prague where students worked on a Masterplan for a former industrial site.

In addition, Planner Joanna Lambert successfully completed a Graduate Diploma in Town & Country Planning at The Bartlett, UCL. Specialising in Urban Design, she gained a distinction in this subject working on projects including the redevelopment of Euston Station and devising a Design Charter for the Isle of Dogs. Her dissertation, ‘Planning for Tall Buildings?’ was based on work she has been involved in for Tibbalds and English Heritage.
