Myatts Field North Estate Regeneration

Parts of Myatts Field North estate were refurbished in the 1990s, but it was still failing to meet the needs of residents and a substantial programme of rebuilding was required.

Lambeth Housing was promoting the redevelopment as a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project and, with Lambeth Planning, saw the need for planning guidance to be in place, to inform the PFI process and also to give the masterplanning work planning status.

Tibbalds worked closely with both departments to test the masterplanning on design, sustainability and economic grounds. An in-depth consultation strategy involved local people through workshops, exhibitions and focus groups and showed that the evolving proposals had support.

We produced Development Planning Guidelines for the site, setting out specific design requirements for planning purposes, which were adopted by the Council.
