Planning approval secured for more sustainable homes in York
Unanimous approval has been given for a new healthy and affordable community in central York. We are extremely proud of our work on York’s innovative Housing Delivery Programme and this recent success builds on those at Duncombe Square, Burnholme Green and Ordnance Lane.
This latest new place at Willow House is shaped by its surroundings, including the historic city walls and legacy of social housing in the area. It replaces a vacant care home and will breathe new life into the Walmgate area of the City.
Working with a team who share our passion for delivering connected communities, the development will provide 36 new affordable homes alongside communal open space and growing space.
This approval follows collaborative engagement with the community, stakeholders and planning officers. The design respects and enhances views from the city walls, integrates existing landscape such as Category A corsican pine and prioritise cycle provision.
Rob Moorhouse, Associate Director, led our planning work:
“We often mention our work with City of York Council for good reason, Willow House is another reason why. These new homes will provide affordable housing to those that need them without compromising on quality. York is a constrained City, but sites like this provide their own opportunities, the team has recognised and considered these and we are excited to see the resultant people first vision coming to fruition.”
