...Having attended quite a few stakeholder workshops over the years, yours was the best, most professional and productive I have ever attended. It was a really nice blend of person-to-person contact, group sharing of information and not trying to ram a scheme down everyone's throats. So well done to you and the team.
Tibbalds supported Ebbsfleet Development Corporation in redefining the ambition for Swanscombe Peninsula following its SSSI designation, balancing ecological sensitivity with recreational value for local communities and its role as a working industrial landscape.
We led an extensive engagement and visioning process with strategic, local and community stakeholders to shape a shared ambition and set of outcomes for the peninsula, providing a foundation for a future spatial strategy and framework.
Running from October 2024 to February 2025, the engagement process highlighted a range of priorities, concerns and opportunities identified through workshops, surveys, co-design sessions and collaborative discussions. We worked closely with EDC to adapt the scope and approach in response to emerging stakeholder input, ensuring the process remained relevant, constructive and actions-focussed.
Our multi-layered engagement methodology combined broad public engagement with detailed technical input. This ranged from digital surveys and in-person conversations capturing high-level aspirations that are rooted in place, to targeted and technical workshops exploring collaborative solutions to spatial challenges, identifying opportunities and potential interventions for the site that balance the needs of people and nature.
Engagement workshops also identified opportunities for future partnerships and expanded organisational networks to help deliver the ambition for Swanscombe Peninsula.
