Tibbalds appointed for latest phase of Hatfield regeneration
Tibbalds has been appointed by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council for the latest phase of its ambitious plans for the regeneration of Hatfield Town Centre – a strategic vision designed to build on the town’s core strengths and unlock its potential.
The Masterplan will be focused on providing improved community and leisure facilities, enhanced cycling and pedestrian connections, higher quality public realm, new homes within the town centre and new space for retail and food & beverage businesses.
It will draw on the town’s key strengths, including its excellent transport links, education facilities, heritage and culture, and independent retail sector, as well as previous regeneration schemes including White Lion Square, One Town Centre, The Commons Multi-Storey Car Park and most recently Market Place. Landscape consultancy will be provided by dwg who are part of the same team.
Councillor Rose Grewal, Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Planning, said: “I am delighted that we are embarking on a comprehensive Masterplan for the regeneration of Hatfield Town Centre, which will build on the town’s distinctive character and core strength to create a thriving, vibrant, community-focused Town Centre that Hatfield residents can be proud of. This important blueprint demonstrates our commitment to developing town centre strategies that help our neighbourhoods, communities and businesses flourish.”
Ketki Mudholkar, Associate for Tibbalds said: “We are delighted to have been selected by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council to prepare the Hatfield Town Centre Masterplan. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a shared future for the Town Centre – celebrating its character, creating new opportunities and responding to the needs of the community for years to come."
